Today, we’re back down memory lane with a picture from my family. My Nan was a great photographer and she caught a great scene of my father playing god with some puppets.
Using the image above, write your story either by:
Taking it Literally…
This is where you take the image at face value and tell a story using what you can see. With the picture prompt opposite, you could explain how the pram ended up in this location. Don’t spend too much time describing the image, but focus on the back story and its emotion.
Using it as a Springboard
This is where you use the image as inspiration. A jumpstart. You might not even mention anything of it in the story. But it has sparked something in your mind and taken you in a direction you want to go. For example, in the image opposite, it might be telling you something about a character’s past mistakes and take you on a journey of discovery.
As a metaphor
This is a big picture idea, looking at themes. Perhaps the pram represents something deeper - an inability to care for anyone. A carelessness in life that can have deadly consequences.
