Today, I am getting married to the love of my life!
Obviously, I wrote and set this prompt up weeks before because I’m not superwoman.
Many years ago, I had vowed I would never get married again, so it takes a very special somebody for me to overturn that scenario. We have been asked about what vows we might have and whether we want to write our own (this took us down a fun and amusing path of ‘I vow never to cut an onion on the wrong board’ etc). As I wrote this, we still haven’t decided.
But it got me thinking about how a set list of vows would be a great way to tell a story. So grab a pen and some romance, and let’s get writing…
Your Prompt
Weddings mark a transition from being ‘single’ to ‘married’. It’s a commitment and marks a union between two families. There is a before and an after.
Think of some couples you know or make them up, and write down some of their quirks. Note a few of their everyday idiosyncrasies such as preferred cutlery or routines.
Now make a list of possible vows they might make to one another.
Next, use your vows as sub-headers to tell a story about this couple.
Do they make it? Do they keep or break their vows? Take us on a journey…
